Author Guidelines

Welcome to the Journal of Advances in Optimization Theory. We invite original contributions in the field of optimization theory. Below are the updated guidelines to help authors prepare and submit their manuscripts.

General Submission Requirements

  • Originality: Submissions must be original, unpublished work and should not be under consideration elsewhere.

  • Language: Manuscripts must be written in English.

  • Article Types: We accept the following types of submissions:

    • Research Articles: Original research on any aspect of optimization theory.

    • Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews on a specific topic within optimization.

    • Short Communications: Brief reports on novel findings in optimization theory.

    • Special Issues: A collection of articles on a specific topic in optimization theory.
    • Notes: Concise contributions that offer significant insights into a specific problem or concept.

Manuscript Formatting

  • Document Type: Manuscripts must be written in LaTeX format. The journal does not accept submissions in other formats. You can download it from here.

  • Title: The title should be concise, informative.

  • Abstract: Provide an abstract of 100-250 words, summarizing the purpose, methods, and main findings of the paper.

  • Keywords: Include 2-6 keywords that reflect the content and focus of your article.

  • AMS Classification: The manuscript should include the AMS subject classification at the end of the abstract. Please refer to the AMS Mathematics Subject Classification for the appropriate codes.

Citations and References

  • Citation Style: The references should follow this format:

    • Journal Articles:
[1] N. Nadezhkina, W. Takahashi, Weak convergence theorem by an extragradient method for nonexpansive mappings and monotone mappings, J. Optim. Theory Appl. 128 (2006) 191–201.

    • Books:
[2] J. V. Tie, Convex Analysis: An Introductory Text, Wiley, New York (1984).

    • Conference Papers:
[3] A. Smith, B. Brown, Approximation Algorithms for Network Optimization, Proceedings of the International Conference on Optimization, pp. 78-84, 2019.

  • Citation Style: Use numeric citation style (i.e., [1], [2], etc.). All references should be numbered in the order they appear in the text. For books, journal articles, and conference proceedings, follow the format shown above.

Figures and Tables

  • Figures: Submit high-resolution figures.

  • Tables: Tables should be numbered sequentially and placed at the end of the manuscript. Each table must have a descriptive title.

  • Captions: Each figure and table should have a caption that clearly explains its content. Captions should be placed below figures and above tables.

Equations and Mathematical Notation

  • Equation Formatting: Use LaTeX for all mathematical equations. Equations should be numbered sequentially, and aligned to the left margin, and enclosed in parentheses (e.g., (1), (2)).

  • Notation: Ensure that all mathematical symbols, variables, and constants are clearly defined when first introduced.

Ethical Considerations

  • Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be free from plagiarism. We use plagiarism detection software to check submissions.

  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

  • Research Ethics: For research involving human or animal subjects, authors must comply with ethical guidelines and provide appropriate ethical approval statements.

Submission Process

  • Online Submission: All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system. Please visit submission to submit your manuscript.

  • Cover Letter: A cover letter must be included with your submission uppon request.

  • Peer Review Process:

    • We follow a double-layer peer review process, where:

      • First-layer review: The manuscript is reviewed by a subject matter expert in the field.

      • Second-layer review: Another expert independently reviews the first reviewer's comments and assesses the quality of the paper and the peer review process.

This ensures a thorough, high-quality review, and increases the reliability and credibility of published work.

Publication Fees

  • Hybrid Journal:

    • For subscription-based papers, there is no publication fee.

    • For open access papers, a publication fee of 200 USD applies upon acceptance.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Open Access Articles

  • Description: Open Access articles are freely available to all readers without a subscription. These articles can be accessed immediately upon publication and contribute to the global dissemination of knowledge.

  • Article Processing Charge (APC): Authors must pay a publication fee of $200 USD for Open Access articles upon acceptance.  The APC is exclusive of VAT (Value Added Tax), which may apply depending on the country of the author or institution. This fee covers the costs of publishing and making the article freely accessible.

Research Articles

  • Description: Full-length research articles present original findings in optimization theory and related fields. These articles should contribute significantly to advancing knowledge in the discipline and offer new insights or methodologies.

  • Access: Research articles are available to subscribers only (individuals and institutions) through our subscription-based model.

Short Communications

  • Description: Short Communications provide brief reports of novel research findings, innovations, or preliminary results. These articles are typically shorter than full research papers but should still present meaningful insights in optimization theory.

  • Word Count: Short Communications are typically up to 4,000 words (including references, figures, and tables).

  • Access: Short Communications are available to subscribers only (individuals and institutions) through the subscription-based model.

Review Articles

  • Description: Review Articles offer comprehensive summaries of the current state of research in a specific area of optimization theory. These articles provide critical analysis, highlight key developments, and offer insight into ongoing research trends and challenges.

  • Access: Review Articles are available to subscribers only (individuals and institutions) through the subscription-based model.

  • Formatting: Like other submissions, Review Articles must be submitted in LaTeX. Include a structured abstract, detailed introduction, literature review, and references formatted according to the journal’s style.
